The Intan is a Chinese Peranakan Museum in Joo Chiat, Singapore.

Given Name INTAN. USAGE: Indonesian. PRONOUNCED: EEN-tahn Means "diamond" in Indonesian.

Located in the heart of Joo Chiat, a precinct known for its multicultural heritage, The Intan was set up in 2003 to showcase the history, traditions and lifestyle of Chinese Peranakans in Singapore.

Bringing together the old and the new, the private museum exhibits Peranakan artifacts from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China and England within a modern home setting. It also provides visitors with an immersive environment to appreciate the rich culture of Peranakans. Winner of Best Overall Experience in the inaugural Museum Roundtable Award 2011, The Intan promises each visitor insights to the bygone chapters of the Peranakan Culture.
