Balloo Nature Reserve

Description

Balloo Nature Reserve

Balloo Wetland Nature Reserve has been established on a former area of wet wasteland, featuring a range of wildlife and plant life.

The wetland reserve has two large ponds, a picnic area, paths and information panels. It provides a home for a wide variety of wetland wildlife including many plant and bird species, butterflies, dragonflies, newts and frogs. The woodland is full of mature native trees and woodland plant life, with a small pond. Species to look out for include oak, speckled wood butterfly, goldfinch and foxglove.

The reserve has several distinct habitats, including woodland, scrub, grassland, pond and reedbeds which provide a sanctuary for a range of plants and animals, and there is evidence of otter activity on the site.

With its network of paths and boardwalks, as well as a picnic area and information panels, the nature reserve provides easy access for a range of visitors.
